What is Ayurveda?

It is widely believed that all elements of this world are connected through something or the other. It’s a known fact that if your mind, body and spirit are well balanced, then we stay healthy and fit. Whenever this well tied balance is disrupted, we get sick or ill. Any natural change(s) or birth defects, age and emotions can cause us to get ill or sick.

Here is where Ayurvedic/Ayurveda Treatments come to your assistance. Ayurveda unfolds the treasures of the five fundamentals of life, namely, Space, Air, Fire, Water and Earth. These elements when combined in the human body form three life forces or energies termed doshas. The combined form of life forces controls the functions of the body.

Vata dosha (blend of Space and air), Pitta dosha (mixture of fire and water) and Kapha dosha (water and earth) are the basic elements functioning in a human being. In special cases, some or any of these doshas may be present in small, large or little measures causing a mixed balanced harmony with people.

Vata dosha --- As per the expert advice from sages, this dosha is the most powerful one in a human being. It controls the way a body reacts and how the cells divide. This dosha is crucial in controlling the functioning of your mind, breathing, blood flow, heart functioning and the removal of wastes from the intestines.

Activities like eating again after a hearty meal, fear, grief, and staying late into the night can cause many ailments. If, this Vata dosha exceeds the limits, you may develop conditions like anxiety, asthma, Heart diseases, skin problems and rheumatoid arthritis.

Pitta dosha--- This life force controls the metabolism and/or digestion in your body. This is related to the hormonal activities in the body.

Some chores like eating sour or spicy foods and spending too much time in the sun can also lead to ailments. An excess of this dosha results in Crohn’s disease, heart diseases, high blood pressure and infections.

Kapha Dosha--- This Life energy helps in strengthening of muscles and building up body strength, stability, weight and immunity. Daily habits such as sleeping during the day, eating too many sweet dishes, and eating or having too many of drinks with excess salt levels or water cause ailments.
